A successful Allstate Floral Buyer should possess the ability to work independently as well as in teams, under time constraints while successfully making quick decisions and meeting goals. An ability to proactively identify solutions while also reacting with a sense of urgency is highly desired. The Buyer should be creative and possess a keen attention to detail that will help elevate product design with a mindset towards driving product salability. He or she should be self-motivated to meet or exceed given sales goals for assigned product categories. He or she should also be an excellent communicator and have the ability to interact with management, customers and vendors. Experience (5+ years) with silk flowers or home decor is a must. This position reports to the Chief Product Officer.
What You’ll Do:
Select, buy, and help develop products that are exciting and unique to Allstate Floral, with focus on quality, cost, product data management and operational impact of incoming inventory.
Identify and understand trends to respond quickly and appropriately to new opportunities. Stay current with the industry (including competitors and market leaders) to maintain awareness of current/future trends and leading edge practices. Consistently shop all levels of fashion/trends/color direction and value. Share findings with internal team and buyers to drive breakthrough product ideas.
Build, manage and maintain current key vendor relationships, as well as identify and develop new suppliers, to ensure efficient and cost-effective methods regarding the purchasing and receipt of goods. Negotiate optimum product costs, terms, shipping & returns, etc. to maximize margin opportunities within company specifications and quality requirements.
Analyze product sales and purchasing trends to identify, plan and execute seasonal strategies and other changes in demand. Use product sales analysis to manage inventory, including discontinuing merchandise, putting it on promotion, and working with the sales team to push out product.
Develop buying plan for assigned product group and review inventory impact.
Assist in pricing strategies, based on current data and trends, and make recommendations for improvement.
Prepare purchase orders; expedite and facilitate the flow of merchandise from vendors to Allstate Floral.
Assist with tradeshow showroom set-ups.
What You’ll Need:

Ability to develop collaborative relationships with internal colleagues, including Production, Planning, Creative, Catalog, In-house Sales and Sales Reps teams, as well as externally with customers and vendors.
Ability to work independently, at times with little guidance, as well as part of a team.
Ability to travel overseas and domestically, up to 10-12 weeks during the year.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Basic retail math skills, including calculation of keystone pricing, markups/downs, margins.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
