Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Human Resources Generalist to implement a variety of human resources programs. The HR Generalist will act as liaison between employee and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices and regulations.  The HR Department will depend on you in a number of important functions such as recruitment and staffing, onboarding and offboarding, performance management, compliance, training & development, including some functions related to payroll and benefits.  Due to the diversity of responsibilities of the role, the ideal candidate will be a competent and resourceful individual with a passion for HR.  

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Talent Acquisition- Conducts full cycle recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt staff, including temporary staffing.
  • Onboarding and Off boarding- Conduct new employee orientation and complete onboarding logistics; conversely, conduct and complete off boarding logistics when employees leave the organization.
  • Compliance- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.  Areas include leaves of absence, workers compensation, employee files and records, safety/IIPP, etc.  Assist in development and implementation of HR policies. Identify and participate in initiatives on continuous improvement of HR programs and processes to make things easier for the team and our employees
  • Talent and Performance Management- Undertake tasks in performance management; guide management in employee relations and resolve issues and problems; respond to employee questions in various HR-related topics.
  • Core HR Functions- Process, verify and maintain documentation relating to HR activities; maintain employee files and database; prepare meeting materials and collate various employee packets; handle filing & monitoring of EDD and workers' comp claims; monitor and distribute safety supplies; assist in processing weekly temp payroll and generate reports.  Act as backup to process bi-weekly staff payroll, as needed; organize safety training and health fair; plan and coordinate company events, including our annual holiday and summer celebrations with other departments.
  • Learning and Development- Assist Director of HR to plan, create, train, and implement company policies and procedures to all employees. 
  • Trusted Business Partner- To be effective as a trusted and credible partner on people, organizational and business issues, this person must have superior interpersonal and communications skills, consistently deliver results with integrity, influence by relationship not authority, and build relationships with employees at all levels.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 1 - 2 plus years’ demonstrated experience as HR Generalist, including Recruitment
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish (read, write, speak, translate).
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills (verbal, non-verbal), approachable and engaging
  • Exemplary level of integrity and discretion to handle confidential information
  • Very organized and detail orientated; strong writing and grammar skills
  • Positive attitude, strong multi-tasking skill, ability to accomplish tasks efficiently
  • College degree in Human Resources or related field; PHR or SPHR a plus
  • Able to travel to other work locations within one mile radius, as needed
  • Able to safely lift and carry 35 lbs
