Human Resources - Cerritos, CA - Full Time

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for an enthusiastic HR/Payroll Coordinator to work closely with our managers and the other members of our HR Team to act as liaison between employee and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices and regulations.  The HR Department will depend on you to accurately and efficiently process the Company’s payroll and assist with administering its benefits plans.  You will also be engaged in a number of important HR functions such as compliance, leaves of absence, workers compensation, training & development, and safety & risk management.  Due to the diversity of responsibilities of the role, the ideal candidate will be a competent and resourceful individual with a passion for HR.  This person will report to the Director of Human Resources to champion the following:

  • Payroll processing- Responsible for accurate and timely processing of multi-state, bi-weekly payroll for the Company. Includes processing of wage garnishments and quarter/year-end tasks. Payroll processing is completed using Paycom; experience in Paycom is preferred.
  • Timekeeping - Management of PTO programs including timekeeping duties and processing time-off requests. Provides support for our timekeeping functions in our distribution center locations.
  • HRIS System maintenance - Develops and maintains a strong knowledge of our Paycom system and performs duties related to security maintenance, user access, setup of/modifications to earnings and deduction codes, life events, business rules and processes.
    • Business Intelligence and Reporting - Builds and runs reports needed to comply with legal requirements such as ACA, EEOC, OSHA, W-2s and audit preparations. Also provides reporting for internal customers for budgeting, planning, tracking & analysis purposes.
    • Employee record maintenance - Onboards new employees into our HRIS system. Maintains employee records and personnel files. Appropriately manages confidential information and adheres to all documentation and records retention requirements.
    • Benefits administration - Provides benefits education, facilitates open enrollment/life event changes and reconcile benefit bills. Answers employee questions and works with our brokers and carriers to resolve benefits-related issues.
    • General HR Support - Provides assistance with leaves of absence, workers’ compensation claims, safety, and other projects as needed.
    • Learning and Development- Assist HR department to plan, create, train, and implement company policies and procedures to all employees. 
    • Trusted Business Partner- To be effective as a trusted and credible partner on people, organizational and business issues, this person must have superior interpersonal and communications skills, consistently deliver results with integrity, influence by relationship not authority, and build relationships with employees at all levels.

    Job Requirements

    • 1-2 years of payroll processing experience. Multi-State payroll experience desired.
    • Strong HRIS user experience; Paycom highly preferred.
    • Bilingual in English & Spanish highly desired (read, write, speak, translate).
    • Demonstrated exposure to Company benefit plans (medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, voluntary benefits, COBRA, retirement plans).
    • Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws and payroll tax requirements. Strong knowledge of standard HR concepts and practices.
    • Meticulous attention to detail. Strong organizational skills and the ability to strictly adhere to deadlines.
    • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and a customer service orientation.
    • A high level of discretion and the ability to appropriately manage confidential information.
    • Able to travel to other locations, as needed
    • Able to safely lift and carry 35 lbs
